Homework: Assessing Infrastructure Protection
Option I: Globalization- Comparative Critical Energy Infrastructure Briefing
Review the required article reading this week entitled Security of Critical Energy Infrastructure in the age of multiple attack vectors: NATO's Multifaceted approach. Write an analytical white paper briefing addressing the way NATO is addressing the strategic protection of European energy infrastructure.
Your paper must meet the following requirements:
1) Your written paper should be 4 to 5 pages in length not counting the title and reference pages, which you must include.
2) Use terms, evidence, and concepts from class readings.
3) Cite at least three scholarly sources for this homework. Scholarly resources include: peer-reviewed journal articles, books, the class textbook, or reports/documents from the government (.gov sites). A scholarly source does not include general sources from the internet (.com, .org, .edu, and .net sites are not scholarly). Scholarly resources should be current (no older than five years). If the class textbook is used as a source, then two other scholarly sources must be used.
Option II: Globalization- Electrical Grid Comparative Contrast
Energy plays an important role in many aspects of our lives. For example, we use electricity for lighting and cooling. We use fuel for transportation, heating, and cooking. Our energy production and use is interconnected with many other aspects of modern life, such as water consumption, use of goods and services, transportation, economic growth, land use, and population growth. Make an argument on how to support the growing demands for energy consumption in the United States.
Also, conduct internet research on the topic of comparing and contrasting the electrical grid system in the United States with the electrical grid system from another industrialized nation. What lessons could be learned from this international perspective on best practices from around the globe in this area of infrastructure protection?
