Pay plan development is an important part of the managerial function. There are numerous ways to pay people -- hourly, salary, commission, bonus, etc. In this week's post examine the pros and cons of a commission based pay plan in general. Then, consider the pay plan for a service advisor. What kind of pay structure would you recommend and why? If you have any type of commission in this plan on what items would the commission be based. I am not looking for a total compensation number, such as $75,000 or exact numbers. I'm looking at the structure and percent of each component which makes up the total pay.
