James Gerber states that since "the signing of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1993, the United States and other countries included labor and environmental standards as part of the reginal trade agreements they negotiate" (2017, p. 162). What are the issues of labor standards in international trade? What are the issues in environmental standards in international trade? Would raising labor and environmental standards positively or negatively affect the U.S. trade with other less developed countries?
