Part A- Cost Estimation
i. Prepare a BOM (Bill of Materials) report for product, using a spreadsheet format. Include the major BOM aspects that are relevant for this reverse engineering project.
ii. Provide a cost estimate for each of the parts.
iii. Provide a labor cost estimate to manufacture each part.
iv. What is your total cost estimate (materials, parts and labor only) for one drill. You can assume a batch size of 10,000 units, for this estimation purpose. Also, you may assume the electronics (circuit board) is a single component for your estimations.
Part B- Reverse Engineering of a DVD Drive-
This is a case study in the engineering design of an ordinary product. The goal of the project is for your team to describe and document how a DVD Drive is designed and manufactured. In order to guide you through the reverse engineering process, as series of question are presented in the next section, which you must address in your report.
