Discuss a current issue in professional news in your industry or field, in at least eight hundred words, single spaced, using two articles from quality sources. Staying current with issues makes you conversant and prepared for your future profession.
I. Sources: The sources should be from professional news such as publications from an association or research articles. For example, Deloitte Insights publishes many excellent pieces on all sectors of industry and services. Most fields also have a professional association such as the Society for Human Resource Management. You should not use popular press like CNN, Wall Street Journal, etc. Popular press is still useful as a place to start because it contains links to the primary source information such as reports or industry information.
II. Structure: This is the general structure of the paper. You can use a structure that best fits your creativity and professional writing style.
1) Introduction - Why is this issue important? What are key terms that reader should know, if any?
2) Summary - What are the key aspects of the issue? What people, leaders, companies, or organizations are involved?
3) Discussion - This is the primary part of the paper. What is your opinion, discussion, and thought on the issue? What are its implications for the industry, the profession, and/or society? What do you think?
4) Conclusion - What other questions are important and related to this topic? What else should we think about in the present and future?
