Discussion Post: Culture and Norms
Media (including news, advertising, social media, entertainment, etc) has a lot of power to reinforce or change cultural norms and beliefs, and influence individual behavior. Since obesity can be a health problem for both individuals and societies, is it a problem for fitness to be portrayed as a cultural norm? Look at these advertising images and give your critical analysis: what is their message about norms and status? Who is trying to gain from it? What kind of impact do you think these messages could have on people? Other comments?
The response should include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space and APA style of writing and citations.
