What is the value of science

Problem:

Question 1: What is the value of science? What assumptions must be made before science can be employed? Explain thoroughly.

Question 2: A method requires culturing stem cells in 1mL wells incubated at 37 degee celsius in a humidified incubator. To induce the differentiation of these stem cells you must add dexamethasone, a steroid analogue. The method states you must add 2.5 micro litre of a 100 micro-Molar stock dexamethasone solution per mL cell culture.

Required:

Question 1: ignoring the volume of the dexamethasone addition what is the final concentration of dexamethasone in the differentiation medium i.e assuming a final volume of 1mL after the dexamthasone addition?

Question 2: You have 4 x 12 well plates, each well with 1 mL of stem cells. You need to make up enough 100 micro-Molar dexamethasone to differentiate all these cells and you have a 2mM commerical sterile dexamethasone solution.

Question 3: How would you make up this 100 micro-M dexamethasone solution?

Show your calculations, but you do not need to write out any explanation.
