Assignment
1) What is the theme of Mariano Azuela's The Underdogs, and how is Azuela's writing style similar to other authors in the modern literary era (think Hemingway, Pound, and so on)? Please cite from the text to support your ideas.
2) If Hollywood were to make a film version of Azuela's The Underdogs, what changes would have to be made to the novel to make it more appealing to an English-speaking audience? Do you think an English-speaking audience would enjoy or appreciate Azuela's story?
3) Choose one of the poems assigned this week, and discuss what the audience can learn historically from examining your chosen poem. You may need to engage in some research in order to answer this question.
Divide your response into paragraphs for easier reading. Note your post should equally answer both sections. Note that I will be checking to see if you actually completed the readings and used critical thinking within your discussion.
