Case Study: All the world is green Environmental sustainability in the industrial sense refers to what corporations and small businesses have been doing to reduce the impact they are having on various aspects of the environment. Of course, the hospitality industry is no exception. This has largely been driven by a customer base who cares about issues related to environmental sustainability. On this point, one Statista study from 2022 notes that 78% of travelers surveyed intended to stay in an eco-friendly or 'green' accommodation in the next year (Distribution of global travelers intending to stay at least once in an eco-friendly or green accommodation when looking at the year ahead from 2016 to 2022, 2022). This interest in green hospitality is echoed by research conducted by Booking.com. In a study done with more than 30,000 individuals across 32 countries, 81% of travelers confirmed that sustainable travel is important to them, while 71% said that they would like to travel in a more sustainable way in the next year
