Discussion
Express your thoughts about at LEAST TWO of the questions posed about positioning, innovation, and research. Be sure to read each other's comments to all questions. Ask a probing question about what another person has written. For full credit, if you are asked a question about your comment, be sure to respond! You have until 5:00pm the end of our virtual week, to conduct these discussions. As always, quality of comments, quantity (the number of quality comments), and timeliness (posting throughout the virtual week -- not too early, not too late) counts in my evaluation of your discussion.
To avoid any confusion: Here are the questions; for best reading results, post your responses as a thread...
Positioning Question - Some people believe that positioning is the key step in marketing. Do you agree? Why or why not? Give at least one example of a product or service that you think has successfully positioned itself. (Remember, positioning is NOT the same as product placement or location)
Innovation Question - What is the role of innovation in marketing? Why is it important to a marketer? To a consumer? Give us an example from your own experience as a shopper.
Marketing Research Question - What is your opinion about marketing research, or research in general. Are focus groups, surveys, etc. dependable as a way of testing consumers' ideas about a new product? What's been your experience, if any? Can you share any current interesting marketing research (if so, be sure to cite your source)?
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
