Essay Problem: Comparison of Texts for Literary Analysis
In this 3 to 5 pages essay you will compare or contrast the themes (and other aspects) of two literary works(i.e. a story and poem, two poems, or two stories).The works must be among those assigned so far in class (or one of the two works can be a work that is approved by the instructor, but at least one of the works must be among those already assigned this semester).Remember the purpose of a comparison or contrast is not simply to say that there are similarities and/or differences. You must have a purpose for the comparison-something that is revealed via the contrast or comparison. To get to the purpose of a comparison or contrast, the student of literature must ask:
1) What is the issue/theme that the two authors are striving to convey?
2) What question are you trying to answer with the two texts?
The response should include a reference list. One-inch margins, Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space and APA style of writing and citations.
