Assignment
Students will prepare a written assignment to provide the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge about theory of change and logic models to the design of a community intervention to meet a specific need. Each student will select a problem in their community and develop an intervention for a community organization of their choice that they consider capable of implementing it. The paper will have the following sections:
• Title page
• Complete table of contents
• Abstract
• Description of the problem/issue
o Answer the following questions when you are defining the problem: What is the problem? Who is affected by the problem? How big is the problem? What are the causes of the problem? Why does the problem affect the identified population? Use evidence to justify the problem.
• Description of the proposed intervention
o Answer the following questions when you are describing the intervention: What is the intervention? Who is the target population of the intervention? Who is going to implement the intervention? Where? When or for how long? What are the changes among the target population that you would like to achieve at the immediate, intermediate and in long term level (defining outcomes)? What are the main assumptions that are made to achieve identified results? By using the "if-then" approach describe your intervention theory of change. What is the existing evidence that supports the intervention?
• Logic Model (use the template)
• Conclusion/recommendations
