Assignment:
Natural disasters occur all across the world. Historic examples include, the 1960 Earthquake in Chile, 1993 Northeastern US Snowstorm, 1815 Tambura volcanic Eruption. More recent examples include, Hurricane Katrina 2005, 2011 Japanese Earthquake. North America Tornado Outbreak. For this assignment you will write about ONE specific natural disaster and the impacts it had. For example, you would not write about tornadoes in general, you would pick one Specific tor nada event and write about it. Remember! A natural disaster usually causes loss of life or Property damage and typically leaves some economic loss in its wake.

Introduction : What Natural Disaster are you writing about? Why did you choose it and how did You first hear about it (Social Media, Television, Newspaper, Etc.?)? When and where did it occur?
Impact and Scare : What kind of impacts did it have? (How many people died/injured? Property damage? What was the economic impact? How were transportation/education and other Social elements impacted?) How long did it last? How big or small of an area was effected?
Preparedness and Response : Did the population have any time to prepare, or was there a warning before the disaster occurred? Afterwards, what kind of recovery efforts (Donations, food aid. government) aid were set into place?
Conclusion : In general, what is the geography of the type of natural disaster you chose? For example, earthquakes occur at much higher frequencies near plates boundaries, tornadoes occur in relatively flat areas. Please briefly elaborate on the geography of type of natural disaster you chose. End your conclusion by stating why it is important to know about this natural disaster.
