What is the echo of the launched pulse?
Any discontinuity into the medium of propagation of an ultrasonic pulse provides rise to back-reflection that travels back to the input and is termed as the echo of the launched pulse. Therefore Ultrasonic pulse-echo data comprises of (a) time elapsed among the launch of the pulse and the received echo and (b) intensity /energy of the received echo. Some different ways are there in this data can be presented for visualization/measurement. Three most common formats are called into the NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) world like A-scan, B-scan and C-scan presentations. Every presentation mode gives a diverse way of looking at and estimating the region of material being inspected. Latest computerized ultrasonic scanning systems can exhibit data into all three presentation forms concurrently.
