Many Liberal IR theorists argue that the Democratic Peace hypothesis is as close to an iron law as you can find in international relations. What is the Democratic Peace hypothesis? What are its shortcomings? What are its foreign policy implications from the perspective of a policy maker in a major country (eg. the United States, the European Union, China, Russia, India, etc.)?
