What is the artifact attempting to convince you

Assignment task:

1. First identify its "genre" and goal - what is the artifact (a tv commercial vs a magazine cover vs a sermon etc.) what is the artifact attempting to convince you?

2. Who is the artifact's audience and why do you think they would've chosen this genre to reach that audience?

3. Now, look closely at design choices and imagine why the creators made the choices they did. In a visual artifact think about color and symbolism. In a largely-text based artifact think about why they chose the specific words they did.

If you get stuck, perhaps go through the rhetorical appeals - how were decisions made to appeal to audiences' sense of ethos(credibility), pathos (emotion), logos (logic) and to manipulate Kairos (timing) within the artifact?
