Assignment:
In this assignment, you will demonstrate an understanding of leadership theories and leadership roles in higher education by analyzing the style of a leader whom you interview.
Develop questions that will elicit the information needed to identify the leadership style and theory that best relate to your chosen leader. Pay close attention to the unique characteristics of higher education and various leadership theories that will help you determine which style or theory of leadership your interviewee uses predominantly.The leadership theories are: Transactional, Transformational, Servant, Charismatic, Contingency, and Team.
Use the following suggested interview questions:
- How would you describe your interaction with your peers and those you lead?
- What is your approach to projects that need constituent input?
- What is your strategic decision-making process?
- How do you motivate those around you to accomplish mutual goals?
- What is your highest priority as a leader?
- How would you describe your leadership style?
- Do you act more like a manager or like a leader in your work as an administrator? Explain why.
Find articles that provide appropriate support for each of the theories you summarize. Cite all resources, including course readings as per current edition APA guidelines.
Format the paper with the following sections:
- Introduction.
- Leadership Theories: Summarize each of the six leadership theories examined in Units 2 and 3. Each summary should not be more than 200 words.
- Setting: Describe and analyze the cultural and organizational structure of the institution in which the leader works.
- Interview: Summarize the main points from the interview and reflect on the interview process.
- Application of Leadership Theory: Determine the predominant leadership style or theory of your interviewee. Support your assessment with the literature on higher education leadership theory.

- Written communication: Ensure that written communication is free of grammatical, punctuation, and typographical errors.
- APA formatting: Format headings, citations, and references according to current edition APA style and format.
- Number of resources: Include at least five resources.
- Length of paper: 5 to 8 typed, double-spaced pages of content, exclusive of cover and reference pages.
- Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.
