1)Among Fortune 500 firms,name any three firms that may not exist by the year 2030. Explain your rationale and also explain if they can do anything between now and 2030 that can make them survive.
Weyerhaeuser:- It runs pulps and paper mills in the US. Due to increase awareness among the population of pollution they prefer to reduce the use of paper to reduce carbon footprints and preserve the environment (Cable News Network, 2012). The company's sales have been constant and demand of the paper also decreased that created difficulty of it to survive in the market.
Dole Food Company:- It may not exist by the year 2030 because they provide food items. In 2030, people will prefer to use packages foods due to lacking of time to manufacture food. High demand of packages foods would influence the business of the company. If the company wants to survive in the market it will change their product packaging process and product line also.
Momentive Specialty Chemicals:- It generates pollution during manufacturing chemical and chemical products. The government is focused on the protest of environment from high pollution create companies that create issues of Momentive Specialty Chemicals to survive in the future. The profits of the companies in this industry have been continuously declined in the last years that also indicates that it faced difficulty to survive in the market (Cable News Network, 2012). The company would identify the way to reduce pollution and increase its profits to survive in the future.
2) Name any three Fortune 500 firms that will continue to flourish by the year 2030. Explain why they may continue to survive and flourish.
Ford Motors:- Increases in the prices of fossil fuel reduce the demand of petrol and diesel engine cars that will create difficulty to automobiles to survive in the market. Ford manufactures electric and solar energy cars that would help them to survive in the market by the year 2030. The Ford introduces their new car considering the need and demand of middle class customer, it helps the company to survive in future markets (Cable News Network, 2012).
Dell:- Dell focuses on technology and modify its products according to the changes in technology and demand or taste of customer that will help it to survive in the future (Vandermeer, & Goldberg, 2003). Dell innovates regularly new products according to the demand and changes in the market or taste of the customers, these strategies would help them to survive in the market.
Apple:- It will continue to flourish by the year 2030 because they are focused on innovation of products. Due to technological development Apple will manufacture the new technological gadgets to compete the market competition for surviving long time. They understand the customer need and demand, considering its the company launch their new product in the market (Cable News Network, 2012).
