What is piezoelectricity
Piezoelectricity provides us a means of converting electrical energy to presume new geometric positions and mechanical dimensions of the substance are altered. This phenomenon is known as electrostriction. Reverse effect i.e. production of polarization by application of mechanical stresses can occur only if lattice has no center of symmetry, this phenomenon is termed as piezoelectricity.
