Watch the February 5, 2019 State of the Union address. If you cannot watch it "live," watch it afterwards by finding it on the web.
After you watch the address, write a two-page memorandum that responds to the following prompts.
Why is that person sitting on the podium behind the president? What is the position of the Speaker of the House in terms of succession to the presidency? What is that person's name and political party affiliation?
What effect did the Speaker's behavior (clapping or not, smiling or not), having on the listeners, particularly those of the same political party affiliation?
Do you think the president's presentation and message were effectively delivered? What do you think about their effect? Did the presentation and message have a positive effect or a negative effect? Explain your comments.
What effect do you think the president's message will have on the nation's economy, particularly the nation's economic measures of well-being?
Finally, what is your perception of the State of the Union address?
In response to every question, be sure to thoroughly explain your thoughts, feelings, or concerns.
Be sure to use the approved memorandum format. Proofread your memo to ensure there are no misspelled words or grammatical errors. In ther words, do quality work, work that reflects your best self.
