1. What is Pediatric Therapy Network's mission statement? Who is their targeted audience?

Pediatric Therapy Network is a non-profit organization and are located in Torrance. PTN services children from the age of 0-22 with varying disabilities and varying developments. They offer occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech pathology, social skills. After brief research, I was able to locate PTN's mission statement: "Pediatric Therapy Network is committed to provide the best treatment plans to children and their families with developmental, functional, and psychical disorders. The pediatric therapy team are selected experts in their respected fields and all share a common compassion and love of children. We provide services in homes, daycares, and our clinic".

2. What is your role working at PTN?

Tanesha Sandoz is an Occupational Therapist. She is working as a Family Engagement Specialist for the Early Intervention Program at PTN. They saw a need for an early intervention program due to many parents with young children approaching them with questions on how to help their child develop their skills in order to achieve age-appropriate milestones. Tanesha is able to provide parents with resources and help answer any questions. She holds meetings called "Tanesha Tips at Two" that are held on Tuesdays. Parents are able to log on and ask questions or share concerns. She also serves as an advocate for parents during their child's IEP to ensure they receive all appropriate services.

It is clear that Tanesha Sandoz is highly educated and has great passion for what she does as an occupational therapist. Having a wide range of education across various areas is truly inspiring. Her education is transferred over and applied effectively into her job. She is able to better assist parents, guide them, and provide them with the necessary resources and answers to their questions. The fact that they also embed parent's needs and self-care into their services speaks volumes on what PTN stands for and values. In addition, I liked hearing Tanesha's advice at the end of her presentation where she stated the importance of remembering, "using your therapeutic use of self". She went on to discuss that one needs to sympathize with all people, especially when working with clients. They should look at their client as if it was a loved one and use the same quality of care that they would use for their loved ones to ensure best quality of service. Based on the personal stories that Tanesha shared with us, it is evident that she is appreciated and well-respected by her clients and parents.
