Imagine you are a military spouse waiting to hear the latest news on what is happening where your family member is deployed. You are desperate for information, so you scan the cable channels all day, also watching for any posts on YouTube, Facebook, and other social media outlets. A few hours in, you notice that not all of the facts are adding up. And the more you watch, you find yourself getting lost in the reporters' commentary of people labeled as experts, but the more time passes, fewer and fewer facts seem to be available in the so-called breaking news coverage. How do you sort through all of the data to turn it into usable information? You'd likely have to take notes on multiple sources and see which facts are reported most consistently, then choose to follow those. And, in conjunction, you'd likely favor those sources that were on the list of most accurate in the future, yes?
