Problem: Mrs. Gilbert is not looking forward to her class of sixth-graders; they are out of control. In actuality, only two boys make life miserable for her. These two rascals draw energy from each other, regardless of what is going on in class. Unfortunately, this energy gets out of hand and infects the rest of the class. She has warned the boys several times about various infractions of class rules; however, after a short time of good behavior, they go back to their mischievous ways. Mrs. Gilbert usually allows students to work with their friends, but she doesn't want these two boys to work together. She is afraid, though, that if she breaks them up, the result could be additional hostility and perhaps more serious misbehaviors. Mrs. Gilbert sighs and thinks, "What am I going to do with those two?"
