What is Geology? Why is it important to study Earth? These are important questions to think about as you begin this course. The first few sections of your text provide an introduction into the science of geology and examples that describe why it is important that we all understand geological concepts.
Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:
• Describe what geology is and identify other sciences that are incorporated in the study of geology.
• Describe why we study Earth and explain why this is important.

Instructions
1. Chapter, section 1.1 (What is Geology?) introduces the study of geology. After reading this section of your text, answer the following questions.
a. What is geology?
b. Provide at least three examples of other sciences that are integrated into the study of geology.
2. Chapter, section 1.2 (Why Study Earth?) lists at least six reasons why it is important to study Earth. Pick three reasons that you most identify with. For each reason that you have selected, write a short summary that includes:
a. The reason you selected it
b. A description of why you think that reason is important
c. An example of how you think you can apply this knowledge in your life today
