What is ethical thinking

Assignment:

After reading the texts and completing the exercises, my thoughts and processes seem to be on target with what ethical thinking is described as being. I believe that an ethical thinker, in my terms, is a person that is firm in their beliefs and themselves. If a person truly believes that their choices are the best for them, they will not be afraid to listen to different view points - as long as they are thought out, well presented and don't personally attack another person. Things will work out one of two ways, my processes will be confirmed as the right choices for me, or I will be provided a different view point that at a minimum is though provoking or can be monumental and life changing.

I also happen to think that black and white of things is short changing the individuals that see the world in only those colors. I have been exposed to situations where someone has done the wrong thing for the right reason and people that do the right thing for the wrong reasons. An example of this is someone stealing to provide for someone that can't provide for themselves, or the store owner that lives an extravagant life style and wants the thief prosecuted because he was stolen from, when he or his family wouldn't even notice what they have done without. Stealing is wrong and does deserve a form of punishment to go with it, but isn't letting another human suffer needlessly a bigger crime? I think the shades of grey are what make the world and people interesting and worth investigating.

Would like a response on this!! Tell me what you think!
