Problem: When beginning treatment with someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, the patient's family plays a major role in the overall success of treatment. When a patient's family is present during treatment, this can be a driving force in a positive or negative way. Part of being in hearing healthcare is fostering family-centered care, and managing the patient as well as the other individuals who are present during the appointments.
