Discussion: Two Level Drama in Bible Study
What is a two-level drama"?
What does the two-level drama suggest about how we should read the gospels in our churches today?
Two level drama is this: The way that Jesus lead his life during the history in which a gospel is being told, and the allegorical meaning of the gospel itself.
Reading Bible as literature has lead scholars to ask: Are the ideas expressed in a particular book or gospel based solely on the time in which it was written, and by whom? Also, what is the main lesson of the gospel in today's time, and how does the effect of the two change the meaning of the allegorical nature of the passage.
