What if supreme court did not decide its case load

Question: I am for the Supreme Court selecting its own cases, because it simply cannot hear every single appeal especially only managing cases nine moths out of the year. Also if the Supreme Court did not decide its case load who would? The system would be highly politicized, or even more than it already is. The Supreme Court's legitimacy today gets criticized for being politicians in robes. Introducing more political influence and interest groups into the scenario would further negate the benefits of changing the case selection process. A solution is not changing the Supreme Court, but who's on it. Term limits could change who's on the Supreme Court, and with around 900 federal judges currently in the U.S. there is a selection to choose from.
