Q: Recipients pay in about 1/10th of the ACTUAL cost of the insurance, and the taxpayers pay in the remaining 90% of the cost. It's been "broke", with current medicare taxes (from workers, not recipients!) not being enough to pay to the claims, since 2009, and will never be solvent again. And the total amount paid IN, by current recipients, is well UNDER the actual cost in the real world, to "buy" equivelent coverage! Dictionary.com defines welfare as: financial or other assistance to an individual or family from a city, state, or national government. Clearly, even though the recipient pays a small monthly fee, medicare and OTHER "entitlement" programs ARE a form of welfare, as it's all government subsidized! Is it the STIGMA of being on welfare that keeps people in denial? I thought that there wasn't much stigma attached to welfare benefits any more? Do people really, truly believe that all the money they paid in for 40 years went into a little bank account, and is ENOUGH to cover their medical bills for the rest of their life? Seriously, what has caused this complete disconnect with reality, and basic math
