Problem
1. With the 2022 midterm election this Tuesday determining party control of the US Congress, campaign ads and information on the candidates are posting online at a rapid rate. What is a mode of media in which you have encountered a campaign ad or political messaging from a candidate? Were the campaign ads positive or negative? Were they targeted for you (ie candidates in Iowa, or your House district) or other states? What makes digital and social media political campaign ads so effective?
2. What form of media do you prefer to use to find information on candidates and politics? Is this a 1-sided information source or a 2-sided information source? Why?
3. Which policy issues do you think are the most important during the 2022 election for Democrats vs Republicans? (Twitter article above). Which policy issues do you think are the most important in this election? How have Democrats and Republican candidates discussed the same issues but framed them differently?
4. Name a few difficulties mentioned in the article on "managing and prepping social media platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation" during the 2022 Election season. How often have you run into misinformation or fake news online related to the upcoming election?
