What experiment did he perform to answer that question

Problem

i. As you know, DNA codes directly for RNA, which then typically gets translated into protein. It does not code for lipids or carbohydrates. In spite of this, we say that it contains the blueprint for the body and codes for (almost) everything. How can DNA be involved in controlling aspects of cellular function that mainly involves non-protein molecules, e.g. lipid composition in the plasma membrane or blood sugar level?

ii. In your own words, describe the experiment performed by Griffith. Your answer should include the following: What research question was he trying to answer? What experiment did he perform to answer that question? Was there a control experiment? What results enabled him to reach his conclusions?

iii. What very cool and slightly disturbing thing about the ability of bacteria to modify their own genome did the results of Griffith suggest, even though the mechanism of how it happens only was shown much later?
