Reading and Responding to Expository Writing complete an essay of 3-4 pages in which you read and respond to the article with an argument of your own. Some questions to consider when formulating your topic:
1. What is the main point of the essay? What does the author wish to communicate to the reader?
2. Do you agree/ disagree with the author's position, or do you share a similar experience? What ideas did reading this article inspire? Use your answer to formulate your topic and thesis statement for this essay.
3. Are any of the author's arguments flawed or faulty? What evidence is used as support?
4. Using specific examples and discussion of your own point of view on the topic, formulate your argument and support your thesis.
Be sure to reference the original article in the course of your argument. Be sure to cite your source properly in MLA format.
