Imagine you are a Nigerian youth living in the transition zone. If you are female, you dress in the traditional colorful clothing worn by Nigerian women (a blouse, a wraparound skirt, and a headdress made from a long winding cloth). If you are male, you wear a round, closely fitting hat and a shirt and slacks beneath a flowing robe. You come from a rural village in the state of Oyo and belong to a traditional African religion. Now imagine living out one of the following scenarios. Describe your thoughts in a story three or more paragraphs in length.
You have recently left your rural home to live in the city. In your story, explain your day to day struggle to survive in the city; what you see, hear, smell; what type of work you do or will do; and your feelings about family and friends you left behind in the village.
You are spending a year doing community service in a region of Nigeria other than your own. In your story, include what you are doing for the community, with whom you are working, and what specific events have helped you develop a spirit of self- reliance.
