Assignment: Legal and Ethical Issues in Branding
First, review this week's required resources, including The Philosophy of Ethics and the Corporate Conscience. Think of a brand that has run into an ethical or legal issue(s) and discuss circumstances around the issue(s).
Address the following, using this week's readings to support your claims.
• Where does the brand assert or communicate its ethical position? Is this an effective place to communicate this statement (e.g., mission statement, guiding principles, or code of conduct)? Explain.
• What ethical or legal challenges did the brand face, and why? When in the brand life cycle did these challenges occur?
• Provide recommendations on alternative approaches the company could have implemented to avoid or recover from any ethical or legal challenges.
