What ethical guidelines will determine your course of action

Question:

Imagine you have been recently hired at a social work agency. You are getting to know your colleagues and enjoying the professional, collaborative atmosphere. One of your colleagues has made great efforts to be collegial and share tips and strategies for working with clients. However, you have observed his contentious interactions with your supervisor and notice he openly questions her leadership. He often disparages her in conversations with you and other colleagues, creating tension in the workplace. Recently he has started asking you about your weekly check-in meetings with the supervisor, and you sense that he is seeking justification for his sentiments and behavior. While you have not had any problems with your supervisor, you see merit in some of his views. Respond to the following: How might this scenario present personal and/or professional value conflicts between you and your colleague? What action steps should be taken to resolve these conflict(s)? How will you prioritize your action steps? What ethical guidelines will determine your course of action? Cite relevant tenets from the NASW Code of Ethics to support your response.
