In the United States, there are an estimated 449,334 CAUTIs each year. The frequency of CAUTIs varies by region, with rates of 12.9% in the US, 19.6% in Europe, and 24% in developing countries (CDC, 2024). Florida's rate of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) is 0.516 (Florida department of health, 2019). This puts Florida in the fifth lowest category for CAUTI rates among states.
