While admitting Mr. Chenelyn for his procedure, Edna noticed that the procedure consent form - ideally completed at the physician's office or the admission clinic - is not signed.
Edna tried to confirm with Mr. Chenelyn that he has consented to the procedure, but they are having difficulty understanding each other. When Edna asked questions in English, Mr. Chenelyn responds in Cantonese. Edna called a hospital interpreter.
When the interpreter arrived, Edna learned that Mr. Chenelyn did speak to the Physician performing the procedure. He stated, through the interpreter, that he understood and gave consent to the procedure.
