What did you learn about your focus child

Problem: Observe, Document, and Interpret

Observe Using A Time Sample:

1) During a 30 minute time period, every 5 minutes, record (in the time sample) which area of the classroom the focus child is playing. Record one anecdotal record for each 5 minutes that captures what the child is doing/saying.

Interpret Your Observation:

1) Using 12 point font, 1 inch margins, and double-spacing, write a 250-500 word paper, answering the following questions:

a) Overall, what were your observations of the child in the classroom? What did you learn about your focus child? Summarize your findings from the time sample.

b) Using your anecdotal notes, discuss the following: What area(s) of the classroom did you observe child engagement? How could you tell they were engaged? What materials/topics interest your focus child? Include at least two of your anecdotal notes.
