I. What do you know about the Holocaust? Did you study it in school? In what ways did you learn about the Holocaust?
II. Some people have asked why the Jews didn't flee or fight back. While there was resistance in every single country the Nazis attacked, why do you think ordinary people such as the Wiesel family, didn't run away or fight back?
III. What answers does Wiesel provide as to why the Nazis did these things to Jews and other groups? Reflect on Wiesel's and Oprah's search for (and perhaps failure to find) meaning in this event.
