Problem: Julie is a NU student in Prof. Martin's class. Julie and Ann are both failing the class and have decided to "kill" Prof. Martin. At the end of the next class Ann pours poison into Prof. Martin's favorite NU Mug. Prof. Martin drinks the poison. Just when Prof. Martin puts the mug down and starts to feel dizzy, he's violently struck in the back with an arrow shot by Julie using her "bow and arrow". Unfortunately, Prof. Martin has died. After his HUGE funeral an autopsy is done, and it is determined that both the arrow and poison were fatal for Prof. Martin, and it can't be determined which was the independent cause of death. 1. What crime(s) can Ann be charged with? What is/are the factual basis for the crimes charged? 2. What crime(s) can Julie be charged with? What is/are the factual basis for the crimes charged? 3. What is/are a possible defense for Ann and Julie?
