Problem: Symbolism in Theatre & Cinema
Complete one of the following options. Note that in all of your assignments for this class, I do expect that you cite sources. These sources may be the readings/resources from the week or other sources from the U of P library. Citing sources and providing a reference list demonstrates what you are learning each week - which is one of our goals from college - to learn. My expectation is that you will cite and list 3-5 scholarly sources in each assignment, regardless of the format. This means that if there is an option such as a podcast, for example, you will submit a document with references and you will verbally cite your sources when speaking.
Land Shark
When is a shark just a shark? Consider the movie Jaws. What could the shark symbolize in our culture, society, or collective human mythology other than a man-eating fish? Why? Support your answer.
Next, think about a theatrical staging of Jaws. Describe the artistic choices you would make to bring Jaws the movie to Broadway. What genre would you choose? Describe at least three other elements of production and how you would approach them in your staging of Jaws as a stage play or musical.
The response should include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space and APA style of writing and citations.
