Assignment task: Analyze and write a brief synopsis about the movie "Pursue of Happiness"
Include the following in your analysis:
1. What family-based theoretical model could readily be applied to the main characters? Why? What other related theories (crisis theory, stress theory, grief and loss theory, and so on) apply?
2. Describe the key roles and functions of the main characters as related to family theory (power, discipline, communication, roles and relationships such as hero or scapegoat, family rules, family themes, or family myths). Choose the ones that are relevant to the characters and plot only.
3. Identify how the family structure or dynamics would affect your ability to provide health care to the individual members. Identify what home factors would need to be considered when adapting a plan of care (this might be physical, psychological, financial, spiritual, or the like).
4. What clinical assessment tools for mental illness and/or substance abuse might be beneficial to use with this family and why?
5. What adaptive or maladaptive behaviors do you see in the family coping patterns related to mental health and/or substance abuse?
6. Propose strategies for early identification of abuse, neglect and violence among family members and intervention using trauma-informed care.
