Problem
• We have spent this semester looking at ancient and pre-modern civilizations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East over a 4000 year, or so, stretch of time. Looking at all we have studied; What elements are necessary to rule a complex society during this period? Why did you choose these elements? Do these elements change over time? Do they change because of culture? Use specific examples from societies we have studied to discuss and defend your view.
• I suggested that the success of feudalism led to the fall of feudalism. Why did feudalism fail? What changed in Western Europe that contributed to the fall of feudalism?
