Assignment task: You have recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in healthcare management. You are being considered for an assignment as a chief executive officer (CEO) to manage a failing hospital. This hospital has been plagued with tremendous challenges. Presently, you are working as an administrator-in-training at the corporate office for this hospital. Your boss has asked you to study the hospital that you will be assigned and come up with a report that will determine your employment.
1. What challenges are hospitals generally facing within the U.S. healthcare delivery system today?
2. Share with fellow students what you think about the challenges that hospitals are facing in your local community. Create a list of best practices for management.
To answer the first question, for those of you who work in healthcare already, think of how the organization you work for has challenges. If you do not already work in healthcare, think of the challenges you have seen as a patient or those you have read about.
For the second part of this discussion board, think of the management practices that you have seen in use, whether in healthcare or other industries. Additionally, you can use best practices that you have read or written about.
