• Describe the conflict, why it is a conflict, its nature and context: tell the story in your own words from inception to the end or where it ended, clearly, concisely, unambiguously - don't copy a story from someone or someone else For example: describe the situation and context, parties involved and their stake, their goals and interest, why is it a bona fide conflict as opposed to any other interpersonal situation and the issues involved.
• What caused the conflict and what types of conflict can it be categorized as; definition of conflict, explanation of conflict, causes and reasons for the conflict
• What fuelled/catalyzed the conflict- factors, circumstances, events leading to each stage of the conflict and steps of conflict progression
• What are the conflict stages and escalation stages ( the content of each of the stages)- identify them
• What approaches were taken by involved parties- identify and explain the approaches/methods used by both parties to deal and resolve the conflict including the reasons for making these conclusions
• A critique of the conflict management strategies used by the key parties
• If the conflict was resolved, how was it resolved and was this resolution successful -define successful
• If the conflict was resolved , why and how was it resolved, outcomes achieved whether it was successful from perspective of all parties, which of the parties believes the outcome was successful or not and what success means to both parties /if conflict was not resolved , why not ?- all possible reasons and explanation as to why resolution did not happen, what is or was in the way of resolving the conflict
• Identify and explain the other conflict management approaches that could have been used why they were not used and their potential limitations - identify the negative and positive outcomes that may have been achieved by these and under what condition
• What could have been handled differently -proposal or recommendation and why - justification?
