Discussion Post
Read the author's response below. What are you thoughts? Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? What can you add to extend the discussion? My thoughts on chapter 3 are that it is a very in-depth analysis of the overall research plan, including specific methods that will be carried out during the course of the study. This chapter expands upon the brief research outline mentioned in chapter 1, and must be succinctly written for anyone to understand exactly how the study will be carried out; the researcher needs to be mindful to connect the specific methods to the major theories which act as the backbone for the conceptual framework discussed in chapters 1 and 2. Actual findings and what the researcher discovered during the course of the study will not be discussed and written until the research portion is complete, and chapter 4 is written later on. I have actually approached this mini-proposal differently by writing a rough draft of chapter 1, then I moved on to my rough draft of chapter 3 while chapter 1 was still "fresh" in my mind. That helps me in some ways because, for me, those seem to be really "tedious" chapters for some reason. Now, I can move on to a "rough" copy of chapter 2 (which is also my favorite) for the next week or so. Then, I'll look it all over and put the "finishing touches" on everything, and "voila"--a mini-proposal it will be!
