Assignment Task: Please consider the following:
Question 1: What is an area or issue within the behavioral health system of care that you feel requires improvement? When thinking about your topic, please make sure you are specific to systems that impact service delivery for children and families.
Question 2: Once you have identified your topic area, you will a letter to a local legislator advocating for change. You are not required to actually send your letter; however, you are free to do so if you would like! Your letter should include the following:
- What is the primary issue or problem area?
- Why is this so important? What is the impact or implications?
- What are you asking the legislator to do or change?
Question 3; After completing your letter, you will conduct your own research to identify an existing bill or policy in your area that addresses a gap or need for children and families.
Question 4: Provide a summary of the bill or policy, why it is important, and what issue(s) or need(s) does it address for children and families?
Your submitted assignment should include your completed letter as well as your summary of the existing bill or policy.
