Discussion Post: The American Yawp
• Why did Europeans set out to conquer the world in the late 15th century? What attitudes about the rest of the world did Europeans carry with them as they conquered new territory? Were these attitudes justified?
• What do the chapters and readings tell us about native and European encounters? How did each side view the other? What were some of the fundamental differences between the them?
