Assignment task:
As Human Services workers, we get referrals with new client information all the time. Often these referrals come with a short description of the client and why they need our services. As we prepare for that first session, we either reflect on ourselves or with our supervisor or team about the information we know.
Prepare a 1-2 page document to share with your supervisor to help you prepare for your intake. You need to use the scenario to assess what aspects of development are on track using the developmental milestones, what issues or concerns are present using the developmental milestones, and identify variables present that are impacting development. You should identify theories that apply to help understand the client's functioning. In referral information, we often get a brief summary, so it is important to be prepared with questions you need to ask to better understand the case.
