Problem
As explained in the text, deviance is a violation of established cultural, or social norms, whether folkways, mores, or codified law. Consider these historical events during the U.S. civil right movement, Rosa Parks violated social norms when she refused to give up her sit on a bus and move the "back section" or a public outcry to take down historical statues and monuments that don't reflect the morals of today's society. What are your reaction? Why do you think people reacted like that? Can you recall other instance in which social norms are consider deviant?
